Commercial Tile in NE Arkansas
Below are before and after pictures of a tile installation in Northeast Arkansas. This is actually a 2000 square foot building that is used as a fellowship hall by a small church. I began this job by applying Redgard to areas of the concrete that had small cracks. Redgard is used a crack suppression membrane to keep cracks in the concrete slab from transferring through to the tile.
The tile is a medium brown 18″ ceramic and will show little dirt, but is easy to clean and maintain. Low maintenance and durability was important to this installation since there will be large numbers of people (including children) that will be dining in this building. There are bound to be a number of spills and messes on this floor, but they are easily cleaned up! The installation was completed in five days, start to finish, with a little help from some local family members.
The rear of this building included two bathrooms that already had tile installed. Unfortunately, it was not the same tile I was installing in the rest of the building. In order to make do with what we had, I used a well-known design called “sawtooth”. This design is commonly used when the grout lines don’t match up between two different rooms, but in this case it’s a totally different tile altogether. I used pieces of both tile to make the sawtooth and “blend” the different tiles into a transition between the bathrooms and main room.
As a finishing touch, I used a few extra tile to cut down to about 4″ wide as a baseboard trim all around the perimiter of the floor. The tile trim is easier to clean and much more durable than wood trim, and was a fraction of the cost. Please click any picture for a larger view.
